Prey 2 Disappears From Bethesda’s Lineup

Amongst rumors of its demise, Bethesda had come forward to confirm that Prey 2 was, in fact, still in development and would be out in 2013. They were quick to assure gamers that the delays were just that: delays, and not a cancellation. The reason for these delays, though—that the game had not seen satisfactory progress over the last year of development—was a worrisome one. If a game has persistent development issues, it can lead to a scrapped or scaled-back project.

And then Neogaf member n8rtot noticed that Prey 2, which had previously been on the Bethesda products page among past titles such as Doom, Quake IV, and Skyrim, as well as upcoming releases like The Elder Scrolls Online, Dishonored, and the Doom 3 BFG Edition, was nowhere to be found on the page.

Has Prey 2 been quietly packed away? It’s starting to seem that way, though there’s always the hope that Bethesda is simply biding its time while the game gets closer to where they want it in development, saving the name exposure for a grand push closer to its release. This whole situation, though, is eerily reminiscent of the first Prey’s long and winding development history.
