Arkane Austin, the studio that made Dishonored, is now working on Prey 2. This is according to a report by Kotaku’s Jason Schreier.
Bethesda currently owns the rights for the Prey franchise and has been attempting to make a sequel for a few years. Back in 2011, Prey 2 was being developed by Human Head Studios. In 2012, rumors and reports started coming out that the game was cancelled. Bethesda refused to comment, only eventually saying that Prey 2 will not make its originally scheduled 2012 release.
But it’s now 2013, and Prey 2 obviously wasn’t released last year. Tipsters are reporting that Arkane is currently working on the title, despite the studio’s reluctance. Higher-ups at Arkane are telling developers to ignore the fact that the game is called Prey 2 and to “treat it like a new System Shock.”
There’s been absolutely no confirmation regarding this report. Several other news outlets are also running with the report, but all point back to the original article from Kotaku, plus fan site Alien Noire. For now, let’s treat this as a rumor.
