There have been a number of reports surfacing recently in regard to Crytek’s UK branch experiencing financial problems, to the point where employees haven’t yet received their pay from last month.
With these reports, concern has started to fly up about how these supposed financial difficulties will impact the development of Homefront: The Revolution , which Crytek UK is currently working on.
As aggregated by Game Informer, Eurogamer , Kotaku and German magazine Gamestar are all reporting similar stories about Crytek UK’s financial situation, including citations of tips from employees saying that many of the studio’s staff have not received their regular paychecks. To top it off, no explanation or compensation for the delay has been given out to the affected employees.
According to Eurogamer, more than 30 employees at Crytek UK have understandably left as a result of the issues. According to Kotaku, one Crytek UK employee claimed that the studio had been missing bonuses, and that its staff had not been paid since April.
” My reason for reaching out is mainly because there are a lot of people in my situation and it isn’t right for a company to not pay staff on time, ” the anonymous Crytek UK employee told Kotaku. ” People should know that there are a bunch of employees who deserve a better company. These things should not be kept in the dark. ”
This tip was the first concrete suggestion of something going wrong since Kotaku received a previous tip from back in March.
“ I am an employee in the Frankfurt studio, ” the anonymous tip began . None of us have been paid last month’s salary. It is normally paid before the end of the month. It is 11 days late and none of us have been given an explanation by management.
All we have to go on are rumors. This is not the only sign of troubles at Crytek, ” it added.
However, in a statement given to Eurogamer, the Crytek is calling the reports as being purely rumor.
“ Regardless of what some media are reporting, mostly based on a recent article published by GameStar, the information in those reports and in the GameStar article itself are rumors which Crytek deny, ” Crytek’s statement to Eurogamer read . “ We continue to focus on the development and publishing of our upcoming titles H omefront: The Revolution, Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded Age , Arena of Fate , and Warface , as well as providing ongoing support for our CryEngine and its licensees.
We have received a lot of positive feedback during and after E3 from both gaming press and gamers, and would like to thank our loyal employees, fans and business partners for their continuous support, ” the statement continued .
