PS4 Firmware 3.5 Lets You Stream From Your PC / Mac

PS4 Firmware 3.5 Lets You Stream From Your PC / Mac

A firmware update is right around the corner for PS4, and the beta begins tomorrow. If you were lucky enough to be selected for the beta, you should already have an email in your inbox explaining how to go about downloading firmware version 3.50. There are some welcome changes in 3.5 for sure, but there are also some strange omissions. Where are our folders? We need folders. It seem Sony wanted to focus more on multiplayer features, and that’s pretty much what we have here.

You’ll now get a notification when friends sign on, and you can choose to appear offline if you’d like to play a game or watch a movie without getting messages and invites from your friends. I can already do this by going into settings and disabling pop-up notifications for invites when I want to watch Netflix, and I’m not convinced that going into the menu to toggle “appear offline” is going to be much easier, but what the heck. Other features include scheduled events and a party feature that allows you see what everyone in your party is playing, and join their games easily. Perhaps the most (or only) exciting addition is remote play on PC and Mac, and that feature won’t actually be available in the beta, so we’ll have to see how it pans out in the final release. For a full list of features check out the PlayStation Blog .
