PS4 System Firmware 4.0 Is Live!

PS4 System Firmware 4.0 Is Live!

The PS4 system update finally pushed through North America, and everyone should be running version 4.0 by now. The new firmware has brought a whole host of new features. You can now create folders to organize your games more efficiently. I myself have created folders organizing my games in order of the time investment required. Stuff I can pick up and play for a few minutes, like Overwatch and Driveclub are grouped together, while longer games and RPGs like Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and Dark Souls III have their own folder. The quick menu has also received a total overhaul. Now you can view online friends, broadcast settings, streaming music, and more at a glance.

The update also brought HDR to our PS4s, which I’m not sure many of us expected. During the PlayStation Meeting it was revealed that HDR would be coming to all PS4s but there was no indication as to when. There are no games or streaming apps that currently take advantage of HDR yet, but when they start rolling out, we’ll be ready. For an overview of firmware 4.0’s features, here’s a quick wrap-up:
