PSN Store Finally Adjusts Canadian Prices

PSN Store Finally Adjusts Canadian Prices

None

Canadian Sony aficionados should be quite happy.  In response to a constant stream of complaints from Canadian customers that they are simply paying too much for their downloads, Sony has decided to adjust pricing on the PSN Store.

As we all know, the dollar has lost a tremendous amount of value in comparison to other currencies around the world.  This market discrepancy was never factored into Canadian PSN Store downloads and it has been a source of contention for consumers in the Great White North.

Today Sony announced that this situation will be rectified on May 1, 2008.  Sony will in fact bring pricing in-line with what the American consumer pays.  This move is seen as great PR, but it may lead to a slippery slope.  After all, consumers in the UK and Europe are paying at least 50% more for their downloads.  Here’s what Grace Chen, Senior Manager of the PSN Store had to say:

“I am excited to let all of our Canadian gamers know that we will be adjusting prices for downloadable content available through the PLAYSTATION Store for the Canadian market as a result of the strengthening Canadian currency vs. the US dollar. We’ll be executing the adjustments in a phased approach prior to the regular PLAYSTATION Store update on Thursday. On May 1, prices on all downloadable content should be updated.”
