Reactions to Suicide Squad and Avengers: Infinity War Casting

There’s been lots of goings-on in the world of comic book movies over the last few weeks or so, and we’re here to bring you the latest on two very big upcoming projects.

First is the recently announced Suicide Squad . The casting choices have been made, which features quite the star studded line-up. We’ll see Will Smith take on the role of Deadshot, as well as Tom Hardy leaving behind his Bane mask to take up the mantel of Rick Flagg. Margot Robbie from the Wolf of Wall Street will join Jared Leto of Dallas Buyers Club as the crime-duo of Harley Quinn and Joker respectively. Here is what writer John Ostrander said about the film getting green lit so fast. “I was pleased, but I wouldn’t have guessed that it would have been one of the properties that they would do quite so quickly. That’s a heck of a slot. It’s the first movie after “ Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice .” That places them pretty high and sure, that pleases me.” He says.

In other superhero news, Josh Brolin recently commented on his role as Thanos in the third Avengers movie, and what ultimately led him to accept the role. In essence, it was the idea of being the baddest baddie in the entire galaxy that finally swayed him. Brolin states, “I love the idea…it’s Thanos against everyone…it came along because of my good friend Louis D’Esposito…We did ‘ Hollow Man ’ together. He called me up and started talking about this thing. It was nice because I could intimately talk to him about it. What I liked. What I didn’t like about the whole idea of it… It was really exciting…”

All signs point to Avengers: Infinity War being the biggest draw of any film Marvel has released to date. It will be interesting to see if Suicide Squad can match that success at the box office (albeit to a much smaller degree), as it could directly affect the prospects of a future Justice League project.
