Ready At Dawn May Not be a Part of The Order: 1886’s Sequels

In an interview with gameindustrybiz, Ready at Dawn’s newly hired CEO, Paul Sams, expressed his desire to work on The Order 1886 franchise while discussing the importance of retaining ownership of transmedia IPs. The problem is that the company does not own the IP.

“We want to build, own and publish our own IPs in the future,” said Sams. “We are in the process of trying to figure out how we will be able to achieve that goal. As for The Order, it was absolutely the company’s desire to own it. We love that game and we are proud of it. Unfortunately, we were at a point in the company’s evolution where owning that IP was not possible. We hope to not find ourselves in that position again.”

Considering Ready at Dawn designed The Order 1886 to be a trilogy, I can see how disappointing it would be if the team couldn’t see it through. The game was the team’s first foray into next gen development, and while we knocked the game in our review for lacking gameplay, we praised the story and would like to see how it ends.

We’ll let you know if Ready at Dawn continues with their trilogy or if Sony assigns a new developer to the franchise.
