Retailer Outs Far Cry and Splinter Cell Collections

For the low, low price of £39.99, you can pick up the Ultimate Far Cry collection!

What, you’ve never heard of it? Good, because neither have I. In fact, until today, no one has. But that’s when UK retailer GAME unveiled a page for the package. They also did the same for a Splinter Cell collection.

Retailers unveiling listings before the publisher is ready isn’t uncommon. But this is a pretty interesting case. There’s already an HD collection of the first three games in the Splinter Cell series, though it’s exclusive to the PS3.

Plus, the two Sam Fischer adventures from this generation, Splinter Cell: Double Agent and Splinter Cell: Conviction, are easily available at an affordable price. But again, that HD collection is only on PS3. So it’ll be nice for PC and Xbox 360 owners to get into the game.

The posting for the Far Cry collection is equally as odd. The second game in the series wasn’t as well received as the original release (a PC exclusive) or Far Cry 3, which was a serious GOTY contender in 2012.

In the end, though, their existence is easily justified. It’d make sense for Ubisoft to capture the popularity of Far Cry 3 by giving gamers exposure to the rest of the series. It’d also do wonders to begin the hype for Splinter Cell: Blacklist by letting younger gamers get a chance to explore the beginnings of the franchise.
