Rime Still Exists, Is Coming to Switch and More

Remember Rime, the mysterious title revealed at Gamescom 2013 that looked like a combination of Ico and The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker ? It all but disappeared in subsequent years, leaving many to speculate that it had been canceled, but it turns out that development has been progressing behind closed doors.

After re-acquiring the rights to Rime from buyer Sony Computer Entertainment, developer Tequila Works resumed work in full force. It’s now scheduled to release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and most interestingly, Nintendo Switch in May 2017. A new gameplay trailer accompanied the IGN-exclusive announcement, which you can view below.

I’m getting an unexpectedly strong The Witness vibe from the trailer – it’s almost like a third-person version of Jonathan Blow’s divisive puzzler, minus all of the pretentious babbling. (Can you tell I didn’t care for The Witness ?) We’ll have more information as Rime approaches its release this May.
