Rocket League Cross-Play Is Ready. Is Sony?

Rocket League Cross-Play Is Ready. Is Sony?

Rocket League is bringing down all kind of barriers. The game already allows cross-network play between Xbox One and PC, and between PS4 and PC, but cross-network play between Xbox One and PS4 is still a dream. That dream may be coming true very soon, according to Psyonix vice president Jeremy Dunham. In an interview with IGN , Dunham said that cross-network play between XBO and PS4 could be up and running within a few hours. “Right now we’re literally at the point where all we need is the go-ahead on the Sony side and we can, in less than a business day, turn it on and have it up and working no problem… we’re just waiting on the permissions to do do.”

Microsoft is down, and I’m sure Sony doesn’t want to turn up its nose, but there might still be some logistics to work out for ‘ol big blue. “Sony’s such a big company that I’m sure it takes a while for them to figure out what it is that the roadblocks are, what sort of issues they might run into with other titles, any number of things that I can’t even begin to speculate on,” Dunham said. In other words, there’s more to it than you think, and we’re not just waiting for someone at Sony to give a thumbs up and say, “Sure, sounds good.” I really do believe we’ll be playing cross-network Rocket League across all platforms very soon, and when that patch goes live, we’ll let you know right away.
