RUMOR: 3G Vita Delayed In Canada?

None

It’s difficult to justify calling this a rumor, since reports are fairly widespread and confirmed by EB Games, but it appears that the 3G variation of the PlayStation Vita may be delayed in Canada by as much as two months. This should have no impact on the release of the Wi-Fi only model, but it’s still a frustrating set-back for those who are interested in the more fully-featured model of the highly-anticipated handheld.

The issue, it appears, springs from Sony’s 3G partner in the northern North America. The device needs to be tested on the country’s 3G network, its service plan(s) finalized, made agreeable to both parties invested while remaining attractive to the consumer. The speculation of April comes from internal systems at EB Games, which have shifted the handheld’s release date from February to that rainiest of months, though it could very easily be a precaution on the retailer’s part rather than confirmation of a new date.

Sony has yet to comment, and so the veracity of the delay remains unconfirmed, but it appears to be a fairly likely and reasonably justified delay. Hopefully this won’t sour any prospective Canadian Vita buyers to the device.
