RUMOR: Assassin’s Creed 3 Getting “Season Pass” DLC

None

Ubisoft is reportedly in the process of prepping a development team specifically built to work on “post-launch episodic” downloadable content for its upcoming Assassin’s Creed 3.

The information comes courtesy of an apparently leaked memo sent by Ubisoft to GameStop stores (and subsequently to Kotaku) in order to thank them for helping the soon-to-be blockbuster exceed its pre-order goals.

The note goes on to mention Ubisoft’s reported interest in “Season Pass” style content, stating: “We know you’re familiar with the ‘Season Pass’ content and, beginning shortly, we’ll start to take pre-orders of our very own. We’d love your continued assistance in informing pre-order customers that a better value is available for those who pre-order Assassin’s Creed with the ‘Season Pass.’”

The note doesn’t mention any specifics of the potential DLC, but considering the supposed manpower Ubisoft is putting behind the rumored content, I’d expect to be fairly substantial if it does come to exist.

Of course, none of this has been confirmed by the developer or the retailer yet, so take everything presented here with the appropriate grain of salt. Until we get an official statement or two, we’ll just have to chalk this one up as a rumor, albeit one that may come to fruition in the near future.
