RUMOR: Obsidian Renames Their South Park RPG?

None

According to Xbox.com, the upcoming South Park RPG from Obsidian Entertainment is getting a name change.

The official Xbox.com game page has been updated with new box art, featuring the title South Park: The Stick of Truth. The image certainly looks legitimate, complete with a THQ logo at the bottom; however, Obsidian Entertainment and THQ have not yet commented on or confirmed the name change. Still, Xbox.com is pretty notorious for leaking games and game info before the developer does, so there’s a bit of weight to this image.

The upcoming South Park RPG takes place in what is essentially a LARP run by Eric Cartman. Players will take on the role of a brand new kid in South Park that joins the game already in progress. Combat will be handled in a sort of “Paper Mario” style, where precisely timed button inputs net you more damage from your attacks. Similarly, you can also press buttons to reduce damage from the opponent’s incoming attacks.

The game is still under development, and we will most likely see a more complete build of the game at E3. We will bring you more information about South Park: The Stick of Truth when it becomes available.
