Saints Row’s Whored Mode Unveiled

Saints Row’s Whored Mode Unveiled

None

Last week, THQ held an event out in Hollywood during which they revealed the secret behind the previously spotted “Whored Mode,” an option on the opening menu screen of their upcoming game, Saints Row: The Third. As the name phonetically implies, it’s a riff on Gears of War’s Horde mode, in which one takes on wave after wave of enemies, whether alone or cooperatively. Saints Row’s Whored Mode, however, separates each wave into a distinct conflict, limiting your weaponry and often applying bizarre modifiers, such as making all of the enemies mobile question marks or giant Saints Flow cans. It’s also a showcase for some of the more esoteric weapons in the game, some of which are too gratuitous to mention here.

In addition, THQ showed off an extended trailer for the game, unveiling the newest enemy group to challenge the Saints: The STAG. Decked out in high-tech military gear, the STAG possess VTOL aircraft and powerful tanks, which a wily player can wrest from their hands and turn back on their original possessors. They don’t show up until the third act of the game, but that gives players plenty of time to deal with the title’s other major enemy groups, the Luchadores and the Deckers, before facing off against some truly insane military hardware.

Furthermore, Cheat Code Central has upcoming hands-on impressions of the title, as well as an interview with lead writer Steve Jaros, so keep an eye out for those in the near future.
