Sakurai Deconfirms Smash Bros Release Date Rumor

Sakurai Deconfirms Smash Bros Release Date Rumor

So you may have heard that Super Smash Bros. U is slated to come out sometime in Spring of 2014. While this has gotten the Smash Community hopeful, unfortunately it just isn’t true. Masahiro Sakurai, director of Smash Bros. took to twitter to deconfirm this rumor. The official release window for the new Smash Bros is 2014. While we can be hopeful about a Spring 2014 release date, and while Nintendo would surely love to see the game come out at that time, Sakurai could not confirm that this release window would be realistic.

The new Smash Bros. game has been on gamers’ minds for some time now. It was announced before the Wii U was even released. However, we are only now seeing concrete evidence of work being done on the game. It still looks a lot like Smash Bros. Brawl currently with only 3 new characters announced so far, one of which being the third party character Mega Man. Many Smash Bros. fans are saying that this is one of the “least hyped” smash releases yet. We will have to wait and see what Nintendo has for us at next year’s E3. Hopefully a build will be available for public play.
