Sakurai Scoping Out Platinum Games

Sakurai Scoping Out Platinum Games

None

Masahiro Sakurai’s name brings one series immediately to mind: Super Smash Bros. The designer, well known for his work on the Nintendo mash-up fighter, most recently wrapped up production on 3DS launch-title-turned-2012-release Kid Icarus: Uprising (our review can be read here ) and has been pegged as the driving force between an upcoming Wii U and 3DS edition (or editions) of Super Smash Bros.

So what’s he up to today? If his Twitter feed, as translated by Andriasang, is to be believed, sneaking into Platinum Games’ studio.

Now, what would Sakurai be doing at the home of Bayonetta and Mad World? Though there’s nothing to indicate that Sakurai’s visit had any purpose other than his own, personal entertainment, it does bring to mind the presence of non-Nintendo characters Snake and Sonic in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. It’s also worth remembering that Platinum is currently hard at work on Anarchy Reigns , itself a multiplayer fighter that mashes up various properties. Comparing notes, perhaps?
