Last year was the Year of Luigi, a celebration of the 30 th anniversary of Luigi’s creation. A whole bunch of Luigi themed games came out, including a new Mario and Luigi RPG, New Super Luigi U , and more. Unfortunately, the year has come to a close. According to Shigeru Miyamoto, the year of Luigi will be concluding on March 18 th . As a result, all Year of Luigi areas of the Nintendo site will be closed. The Year of Luigi Community and Dev Room will be completely shut down.
In one final celebration, Shigeru Miyamoto has asked all Nintendo fans to leave a comment for Luigi on a post on Miiverse. This is your last chance to say something poignant to our green hatted hero. Why are we acting like Luigi is dying? Also, it must really suck to be Luigi, considering his year was the year when Nintendo’s poor Wii U sales caused all of its executive board to take massive pay cuts.
