Though Nintendo teased the existence of a Mario game for the 3DS at this year’s GDC, we were all expecting a full reveal at E3 followed by a 2012 release. However, in a recent interview, series creator Shigeru Miyamoto said, “I promise to do all I can to deliver the new Mario game this year.”  Of course, that’s a far cry from a solid confirmation, but if Miyamoto’s working hard on it we’ve got some hope. And considering the lackluster 3DS launch software sales (no 3DS titles even cracked the NPD’s top ten for march), the rush may be on to boost the 3DS’ sales before the close of the year. And who better to do that than everyone’s favorite mustached plumber? |
