Shinobi Refle: Senran Kagura Coming to Switch

Shinobi Refle: Senran Kagura Coming to Switch

Senran Kagura is a game series that’s been around since 2011, when it brought beat’em up action to the 3DS. Well, that and ninjas whose clothing tore apart after being attacked. There was an anime inspired by the game in 2013, and even more games related to it have been released over the years. Now, the Switch is getting what could be its weirdest and most risque installment.

Last April, Nintendo announced Shinobi Refle: Senran Kagura . This title will release on Nintendo Switch sometime in 2017 through the Japanese Nintendo eShop. Its creator, Kenichiro Takaki, noted that the game will use Switch’s HD Rumble feature to provide realistic sensations. It was only today that we got a glimpse of what Senran Kagura will look like on the system. Spoiler alert: there is a lot of skin.

Kenichiro Takaki performed a Shinobi Refle: Senran Kagura demo during a press conference in Tokyo. The main feature he showed off are the minigames that get the player character up close and personal with Asuka the ninja. They’re called “touch communication” games and have the player giving Asuka different kinds of massages with the Switch controllers. That means you touch her arms, back, legs, and other parts of her body. This makes more sense if you take a closer look at the game’s title, Refle is short in japanese for reflexology, which is a type of massage.

There’s still no solid release date for Shinobi Refle: Senran Kagura . Since the Switch is region-free and you can access both eShops easily, it won’t be difficult to get a copy. Seeing as how Senran Kagura has seen great success outside of Japan, a localization may be in our future. In the meantime, check out the gifs of Takaki showing off the game’s massages; they’re pretty hilarious.
