Sony Sheds Light On Interactivity Between PS3 And PS Vita

None

At this year’s Develop Conference, Sony Europe’s R&D Manager Phil Rogers discussed some potential ways the upcoming PlayStation Vita and PS3 could interact. When talking about the connectivity between the two devices, Rogers went into detail about how the vastly different controls on the two consoles would work together, saying “The PS3 can send data down to Vita and Vita can display it. You could use the [Vita’s] unique features—gyroscope, touch front and back—as a control device for a PS3 game.”

Rogers moved onto the Remote Play, a feature that lets you play your PS3 games on your PSP, by saying “For launch we’ll also have Remote Play, which does look good on Vita—I saw an early version of it running recently.” This feature will work great with the Continuation Play feature that lets gamers share saves across the Vita and the PS3. So not only will you be able to play your PS3 games on the go, you’ll also be able to save your progress.

Add all this to what we already know, like the ability to play online against PS3 owners from your Vita (in games that support the feature), and the Vita/PS3 connectivity might finally have reached the level that gamers have wanted since the PSP first launched.
