Sony To Upgrade Arsenal Of PSN Exclusives

None

Both the PSN and XBLA have a wide selection of downloadable games, but it’s the Xbox 360 that arguably has the widest selection of exclusives on its online service. Games like Castle Crashers, Torchlight, and Shadow Complex have all been met with huge success and critical acclaim on XBLA. In fact, even Limbo was originally an XBLA exclusive, though it will be adding its unique atmosphere to PSN on July 19.

Sony’s selection of PSN exclusives, while admirable, just hasn’t seen the same level of success. That could soon change, as Sony is planning to boost its efforts toward bringing more exclusive content to its online platform.

Over the next three years, they’re investing a cool $20 million to expand the PSN lineup, including bringing in high quality arcade games like Okabu, Eufloria, and Papo & Yo. They hope to make more exclusive titles that are as successful as Joe Danger, Flower, and the PixelJunk series have been. This investment will bolster first- and third-party efforts, the latter through their Pub Fund that was created in 2009.

This could mean a big improvement in Sony’s already impressive lineup of PSN support, giving PS3 gamers a ton of incredible new content to experience on the platform.
