During E3, there was an announcement made during Square’s conference that mostly went over everyone’s head, which is understandable given the bombastic announcement of the Final Fantasy VII remake. Project Setsuna is coming in early 2016, and is being produced by a small team created within Square specifically to get jrpg’s out to the world on a faster basis than Square’s been producing as of late. The studio’s name is Tokyo RPG Factory, so keep on the lookout.
What’s cool about Tokyo RPG Factory is that Square is acknowledging the hunger JRPG fans have for new and more diverse content. The huge corporation can only focus on so many large releases at a time, so setting up a seperate studio makes sense, and should hopefully lead to more releases like Setsuna in the near future.
