Square Enix May Bring I Am Setsuna to the Vita if Demand Is High

I Am Setsuna is getting a lot of attention right now mostly for reasons opposite of what we’re used to hearing. Typically we hear about games that are new, cutting-edge, and innovative. Words you’ll hear used to describe I Am Setsuna are words like traditional, classic, and old-school. We’re okay with that, though, and Square Enix does “old-school” really well. If you were born in the mid- to late-’80s or before, you likely grew up loving turn-based RPGs, and Tokyo RPG Factory wants to capitalize on that.

This really appeals to me, and more than anything I wish I could play this game on my PS Vita. It’d be the perfect game to play in chunks as I lie in bed, or take with me when I travel. Japan already got I Am Setsuna on the Vita, but Square Enix has no plans to release the game for Sony’s portable here in North America, that is, unless we really want it. The game’s director said as much in an interview with US Gamer at GDC. “Of course, there is a large Vita market in Japan. If there is a swell of demand in North America, though, we will consider it.” I’m not sure what a swell of demand would look like; I suppose we’ll have to beg on social media, eh? I’ll probably pick up the game either way, but a Vita version would be ideal.
