Star Citizen Reaches the $43 Million Mark

Star Citizen Reaches the $43 Million Mark

There’s something to be said about the support of your fan base! The crowd-funded campaign for the upcoming PC space-sim has reached over $43 million big ones recently; an impressive feat to be sure!

Chris Roberts (Creator of Wing Commander ) took to his blog today to tout the achievement and also to release a few new design concepts in an open letter. “Another incredible accomplishment by Star Citizen ’s backers $43 million! I’d like to begin today’s letter by showing you where one of our previous stretch goals is going. At $42 million, we unlocked the Gladius light fighter for Squadron 42. The team at Foundry 42 has been working on the ship and I’m pleased to show you some of the early WIP today! The Gladius is intended to be an older fighter that doesn’t have the arms and armor of a Hornet… but that can maneuver and strike quickly.” Said Roberts.

While $43 million is nothing to scoff at, Roberts reminds his supporters that they’re not quite there yet. In a plea to backers for their continued support of the project, he thanks them by saying, “I don’t want to sound repetitive after so many levels, but thank you again for your support. Every additional dollar goes to Star Citizen’s development and makes it a better game…It’s hard to believe we’ve come this far, but the winner will be the $46 million stretch goal!”

We’ll bring you more if/when Star Citizen hits its next big milestone, over its continued development.
