Star Trek Online Goes Free To Play

Star Trek Online Goes Free To Play

None

There are three categories of MMOs these days: MMOs that are free to play, MMOs that are failing, and MMOs that are World of Warcraft. Star Trek Online is not World of Warcraft and is not failing, so you know what that means.

Recently, Cryptic Studios has announced that Star Trek Online will be going free to play. This means that players will be able to play monthly for free and they won’t need to buy a retail copy of the game to do so.

Free players will be able to customize their avatars, crews, and ships, but will have many options in the game locked or limited. For $14.99 a month, free players can become Gold members, and will be able to access everything that players can currently access. Currently subscribed members will automatically be upgraded to Gold Member status. So if you are an avid player of Star Trek online, you basically won’t have to worry about anything other than a couple noobs cluttering up your game servers.
