Star Wars Battlefront did well How well? Over 14 million copies were shipped in the fiscal year ending March 31, 2015. This was after EA predicted 9-10 million copies would ship, then revised that figure to an expected 13 million copies this fiscal year. This means we’re getting a sequel. Star Wars Battlefront 2 has been confirmed.
This isn’t exactly shocking. Last November, Blake Jorgensen, EA’s CFO, said the company wanted to make more Star Wars Battlefront games at the UBS Global Technology Conference. His confirming it during an earnings call was expected. Jorgensen also said it will be released in 2017 and be inspired by more recent Star Wars movies, whereas the current game only has characters, locations, and missions inspired by Star Wars: Episodes IV-VI.
Now we get to send months speculating! What do you think will be in Star Wars Battlefront 2 ? I think it’ll only cover Star Wars: Episodes I-III . Even though Jorgensen said EA can make games on all Star Wars movies and spin-offs, it seems like Episodes VII-IX would be fodder for Star Wars Battlefront 3 .
