Star Wars Battlefront Gets 3 More Characters, 3 More Modes

Star Wars Battlefront Gets 3 More Characters, 3 More Modes

It’s been a big day for Star Wars Battlefront news. Not only are there new, familiar faces, but there are also new ways to play the game. It’s pretty huge.

To start, Princess Leia, Han Solo, and Emperor Palpatine will be playable characters, Leia uses Trooper Bane as an attack and has Alderaan Honor Guards at her side. Han Solo is all about the guns, with a Lucky Shot, Rapid Fire, and Shoulder Charge. Finally, Emperor Palpatine uses Force abilities like Force Lightning and Dash, but also can call in Imperial Resources.

Of the three new Star Wars Battlefront modes, one is expected and the other two are welcome surprises. Training Missions make up a tutorial section, with five missions that teach people how to use the Force or fly vehicles either alone or cooperatively over local or online multiplayer. There’s also a Probe Droids tutorial.

The other two modes are more meaty. Heroes vs. Villains is a 6 on 6 match between the Rebels and Imperials, with three named heroes and villains on either side. These six have to be killed for a match to end, and when someone’s named character dies, they respawn as a generic grunt. Battles is the other mode, where you play as a generic character or in a Heroes match as a named character. The goal is to fight either 1 on 1 versus a human or AI opponent to collect tokens to reach 100 points, or 2 versus 2 cooperatively with a buddy.

Star Wars Battlefront will come to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC on November 17.
