Star Wars: Battlefront Won’t Let You Fight On The Death Star

Unfortunate news came down from DICE today. It looks like we won’t be able to fight on the Death Star in Star Wars: Battlefront . They made it very clear that we wouldn’t see stages either in, or outside the Death Star, which means no trench run, and no setting Prince Leia free.

“We will not offer a Death Star based map,” said a DICE community manager on the Star Wars: Battlefront Reddit. “But stay tuned for details around the maps we will offer.”

He went on to clarify how vehicles work, once again confirming what DICE has said before about the lack of exclusive space battles in the game. “All vehicles are obtained via power-ups across the battlefront. If you choose to use that power-up you spawn into the battle inside that vehicle.” This means that X-Wings and TIE Fighters are just going to be used to get an edge in otherwise ground based fights.

All maps in Star Wars: Battlefront will take place during some epic scene in the movies. Endor, Hoth, and Sullust have already been confirmed. There will be 12 maps available when the game first releases, and right now we can only speculate as to what these maps will be. Usually, the Death Star is considered one of the most iconic areas in Star Wars lore, but now we know it’s off the list.
