Starbreeze, the studio most known for the Payday series, recently announced that due to the underperformance of RAID: World War II , the company was in financial trouble. This was also due in part to a delay for developer OVERKILL’s Walking Dead game. But shortly after, Starbreeze was able to raise the money.
By selling shares, Starbreeze gained $30 million and will be able to continue its plan to get The Walking Dead out in Fall 2018 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Starbreeze also plans to “accelerate” production on the upcoming Payday 3 , which does not yet have a release date. Finally, Starbreeze also plans to use the money to extend support for Payday 2 into 2019 and explore further business opportunities.
Payday 2 is coming to the Nintendo Switch this month, where the game will see a timed exclusive launch for a new character named Joy. Starbreeze works primarily with publisher 505 Games, which is also handling the upcoming Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night from Koji Igarashi and Inti Creates.
