Gamescom 2011: SOE Dates And Demos A Downloadable Trio Of Titles

None

In a press release sent out today, Sony Online Entertainment has revealed the release dates for three upcoming PSN titles: Rochard, PAYDAY: The Heist, and Sideway: New York.

  • Rochard – Described by Sony as a side-scrolling puzzle platformer, players control the eponymous John Rochard as he uses mining tools to fend off space pirates and save his fellow miners, all while solving the mystery behind an ancient alien artifact. Gravity manipulation is key out in space. Rochard will be out September 27 for $9.99.

  • PAYDAY: The Heist – Perhaps the most broadly anticipated title on this list, PAYDAY: The Heist is a cooperative first person shooter a la Left 4 Dead. Except, instead of killing zombies, one (along with up to three friends) is robbing a bank. Or stealing a diamond. Maybe even breaking a prisoner out of jail. Available on both the PC and PlayStation Network as of October 4, the game is also the most expensive of the lot at $19.99, though it’s involved with Sony’s PLAY promotion, too. It can be pre-ordered between September 20 and September 28 on the PSN, which includes a bonus or two. DLC is planned for later in the year.

  • Sideway: New York – The world is 3D, but you’re not. With gameplay strictly confined to two dimensions, Sideway: New York follows Nox as he traverses what SOE describes as “a twisted graffiti world,” all on a quest to defeat Spray (his appropriately named nemesis) and rescue his friends, so that they can return to the real world. Out October 11, the game will cost $9.99.

Furthermore, all three games will be demoed at Gamescom, currently ongoing in Cologne, Germany. PAYDAY: The Heist, in particular, will be demoing its Diamond Heist scenario.
