Steam Passes 30 Million Accounts

Steam Passes 30 Million Accounts

None

Steam, the Valve-based game download service, recently passed the 30 million account mark with reports of 100-200% growth per year. This is very impressive, considering the service has only been available since 2004. However, because of the sheer volume of accounts (and the percentage of those online) have forced the service to go through some serious infrastructure modifications. Fortunately, the service has announced that they have again increased bandwidth to meet demand, and boasts it now has “enough bandwidth to ship a digitized version of the Oxford English Dictionary 92.6 times per second.” So if you’ve been holding out on getting a Steam account due to fear of lag or server issues, fear not! Steam has you covered.
