Still Want a Kinect? You Can Buy One in October!

In what many considered a much needed course correction for Microsoft; the newly redesigned Xbox One was able to achieve its lower price point by unbundling the Kinect from its next-gen console.

Now, do you find yourself yearning for this motion sensing technology and feel left out that your friends have one when you don’t? Fear not, as you can purchase your very own unit come October! The staff of the Xbox Wire recently revealed that “…The standalone Kinect sensor comes with Dance Central Spotlight, the latest in the dance series from developer Harmonix, which will be available as a digital download and features a soundtrack of 10 hot tracks. Kinect with Dance Central Spotlight will be available at retailers for $149.99.”

While dropping the cost of the console to compete directly with the PS4 was a smart move by anyone’s account (especially with the upcoming holiday season right around the corner) some saw this as a nail in the coffin for Microsoft’s Kinect venture. However, the console manufacture stands firm in their assertion that this piece of tech is just as important to them as it ever was. They even go so far as to claim the “…Xbox One is better with Kinect, making games, TV and entertainment come alive with premium experiences.”

We’ll bring you more on how the removal of the add-on affects Xbox One sales, as we move into the hectic period of Christmas 2014.
