TellTale to Bring Game of Thrones Series

TellTale to Bring Game of Thrones Series

Today Telltale Games annouced a partnership with HBO Global Licensing today, pertaining to the creation of an episodic series based on the critically-acclaimed Game of Thrones drama series, based on George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire book series.

This interactive series is slated to debut digitally in 2014 for consoles, Mac and PC, and mobile devices. However, specifics on platform details and release dates have yet to be announced.

Game of Thrones , for those who don’t know, is a drama series set within the well-realized fantasy book series, A Song of Ice and Fire , written by George R.R. Martin. It’s laced with political intrigue and sexual bluntness between seven noble families (sometimes within them too), each vying for control of the Iron Throne, and in turn vying for control of the Seven Kingdoms of the country Westeros.

In this story’s press release, co-founder and CEO of TellTale Games, Dan Connors, said, “Since the very beginning Telltale’s goal has been to work alongside the most talented and respected forces in entertainment, bringing their worlds to the interactive space as no other game studio can.”

“Working with HBO to develop a new game series based on Game of Thrones is a natural fit for our studio,” he continued, “This partnership will create an experience that will captivate the huge, global Game of Thrones audience. It will put them in control of the epic stories of warfare, intrigue, violence and revenge that we know and love.”

“We’re delighted to be working with Telltale Games, a proven leader in the creation of engaging interactive content,” said Josh Goodstadt, Director of Global Licensing, in the same press release. “Our fans are always looking for new, exciting ways to engage with the Game of Thrones brand and this game series will put them right in the middle of the action by letting them decide where the story will lead. This brings a whole new dimension to the world of Westeros.”

While I’m way behind on my Game of Thrones , I know that the first season was enough to get me hooked. I’m already a fan of the utterly rich lore with the Game of Thrones universe, and many an hour was spent watching the expanded snippets of the lore on my blu-ray set. I honestly can’t to see what Telltale will bring to the table with its Game of Thrones series, especially since its last games have been so well-received.

We will bring you more information on the specifics on designated platforms and such once we know.
