TGS 2011: New Halo: CE Anniversary Details Emerge

TGS 2011: New Halo: CE Anniversary Details Emerge

None

Microsoft has been spoon-feeding the Halo fan base tiny morsels of information at every major con for the last few months. So none of us were surprised when a couple of miniscule bits of news emerged from TGS today.

343 industries, the development company behind the Halo series, showed off a new multiplayer map and gave TGS attendees the first look at the a campaign mission for the upcoming Anniversary Edition. 343 has given “Pillar of Autumn,” the first campaign mission from Halo 1, an HD facelift and 3D overhaul. Some of us are still slightly annoyed by the unnecessary injection of 3D into the game, but that probably won’t stop us from buying it.

Gamers at the Tokyo Game Show also got a peek at “Breakneck,” a reworked version of Halo 2’s Headlong multiplayer map. Headlong has always been a fan favorite and inspired Halo 3’s infection game type. Check out Microsoft’s dramatic description:

“Headlong – Section 21 once looked out onto the New Mombasa Orbital Elevator with pride and optimism. Now, with much of the city eviscerated by the Covenant’s brutal assault, the skyline remains only a shattered ghost of what it once was. Headlong provides a large, skyscraper-hemmed construction site with numerous vantage points for clever snipers as well as a large central basin for excellent vehicle combat. (8 – 16 players)”

Halo: CE Anniversary hits the shelves on November 15th in celebration of Halo’s 10th anniversary.
