Harley Quinn is constantly changing and reinventing herself. Well, more accurately DC Comics is changing how she’ll look in each game, as are the different developers, wardrobe consultants, animators, artists, and other people involved with bringing the character to life. Over the years, she’s had tons of different looks in games, shows, comics, and movies. But which are among the coolest ones yet? Join us as we look over a few of them.
Batman: Arkham Knight
This is purely a fashion list. We’re not going by which characterizations of Harley Quinn are the best or worst. The outfit she has on in Batman: Arkham Knight is… fine? It is impractical from a villainy standpoint. White puffy sleeves are going to get messy really easy, for example.
For me, I think it looks more like a “Halloween Sexy Quinn.” It doesn’t have some of the hallmark elements for the character. It really amps up the sex appeal. And, while it does have some of her trademark fashion elements, it sometimes doesn’t really seem like her.
Birds of Prey
I’m going with the shorter Birds of Prey title, because trying to remember the full one is a bit of a pain. (Though I did enjoy the movie!)
This screams Casual Harley Quinn to me. I’m not going to say it is out of character. I could totally see her wearing this when she isn’t doing crimes. But it doesn’t have the trademark Quinn look we expect from the villain/antiheroine. I dig it, but it’s very out there for her.
Also, if you want to cosplay as her, it’d be really easy to pull this look off.
Like Birds of Prey Harley Quinn, I see the Suicide Squad look as being more casual attire. It has her trademark color schemes and such, which is a definite pro. She’s got her hair right. Even the accessories are on point.
But sometimes, you want to go casual Friday when doing your crimes. Or maybe you just got out of prison and don’t have access to your full wardrobe. Let a villainess be comfy, damn it.
I’m not the biggest fan of all the Injustice and Injustice 2 Harley Quinn looks. I feel like a lot of them don’t pop, are too unrealistic, or figure “It’s red and black! It’s fine!” But I’m living for this headdress.
In many of the really great Harley Quinn looks, she’s dressed up as an actual harlequin. Which pairs super well with the Joker. Having this headdress is incredibly creepy and cool, and I love it.
Lego DC Supervillains
I know this is a stretch, but bear with me. I really like what Lego DC Super Villains did with Harley Quinn. Even though it’s a minifig representation of her, it’s fantastic. She has the shockingly white porcelain skin. She has a great red and blue color motif that coordinates well with her overall look. Her whimsical side is represented with her roller skates.
Plus, if you don’t like it, the game gives you alternatives to change her to a look you do prefer.
Bombshell Harley Quinn
Bombshell Harley Quinn is an amazing character who has appeared in the DC Bombshells Universe and has a cool backstory. You ever hear that “Well-behaved women rarely make history” quote? It applies to her.
Anyways, she has a great look. She has her trademark pigtails and her bikini top with the harlequin pattern. But, she has a practical look too. As a pilot, she has aviator goggles, gloves, and a jacket. She also has plenty of pockets, which is always great. Her makeup is on point too. She’s fierce!
Batman: The Animated Series
You never forget your first Harley Quinn. I think that’s how it goes, right? Batman: The Animated Series has the most recognizable and arguably best version of the heroine.
Sure, she’s not “super” sexy. But her look is timeless.
She’s got the classic harlequin going. You know at a glance who she is and what she’s doing.
You can adapt on and build off of it, altering minor elements of the costume and still staying recognizable.
Plus, it always goes perfect with Mr. J.
It’s the best!
