The FiOS TV Subscription Service Now Available on Xbox One

The FiOS TV Subscription Service Now Available on Xbox One

If you’re looking for even more ways to stream content into your living room via the Xbox One, you might want to check out Verizon’s new FiOS app.

The Xbox Wire recently posted information about the new partnership between Microsoft and Verizon to bring this feature to current FiOS subscribers and Xbox Gold Members. “Today, our partnership continues to expand with Microsoft as customers who are Xbox Live Gold members and who subscribe to both FiOS TV and Internet service can watch up to 74 live channels through Xbox One using the free FiOS TV app…Nearly two-thirds of our respondents said they want to watch streaming video on their game console.  Verizon listened, and now the FiOS TV experience is available right now on your Xbox One!” they said.

For those who may not be familiar with Verizon’s services, they are branching out from just the cellular arena. Their TV based service offers a wide variety of popular channels (including USA, TBS and more) starting as low as $49.99 per month. However, the introduction of this app to the Xbox One isn’t necessarily anything new, as it’s important to note that Time Warn Cable customers will find a similar feature (currently available on the Xbox 360).

Also, Verizon touts the apps integration with some of the next-gens console new voice features and how smooth the transitions between gaming to TV can be. “No matter what you’re doing on Xbox One, just say “Xbox go to Verizon FiOS TV.” said Manager of Broadband Product Management & Development Fowler Abercrombie describing the simple commands.

The app is currently available via Xbox Live.
