The Monster Hunter Movie’s Being Shopped Around

The Monster Hunter Movie’s Being Shopped Around

More information on that Monster Hunter movie has come in. Some of it sounds good. Some of it sounds odd. But hey, at least it’s progressing. The biggest news is that Paul W.S. Anderson and his producing partner, Jeremy Bolt, are behind it. Anderson’s formerly worked on another Capcom video game movie series you might remember, it’s called Resident Evil . Their manager, Ken Kamins, is pitching a script Anderson wrote to different companies.

Here’s where it gets weird. Mr. X would be handling some of the VFX and VFX renderings of the potential Monster Hunter monsters have come out. While the games are set in a fantasy world that’s far less advanced than our own, the first VFX image released from the movie shows one of the dragons destroying a plane at LAX. That… isn’t exactly how I remember the series going.

I know that video game movies sometimes take liberties with the source material. Especially with a series like Monster Hunter where the monsters are the main characters. Anderson supposedly has two movies planned in this potential series, which would be shot in China or South Africa. Hopefully they don’t go too over-the-top with their plots.
