The Ryse of Kinect

The Ryse of Kinect

None

Crytek is famous for its graphics technology. The Cryengine, now in its third iteration, provides detail unlike any other graphics engine and demands the hardware to match if one wishes to see it at its best. Now, Crytek is bringing their visual talents to a new medium with a new theme in the form of Ryse, a first person melee combat title for the Kinect.

Images of the famous Colosseum and iconic bust of Julius Caesar indicate that the game’s ancient, Roman stylings may betray a historical context, but the trailer immediately relieves any uncertainty one might have as to the title’s visceral brutality, players not only slashing and stabbing, but booting and headbutting strikingly detailed opponents through hectic, active battle sequences.

Crytek has a history of providing open, sprawling gameplay experiences. From its initial trailer, Ryse looks to take a different tack, pulling one along through a linear ride, though solid details on the title are lacking.
