Telltale’s The Walking Dead has been one of the greatest and most artistic games in the downloadable space. Now, it’s going to be one of the greatest and most artistic games in the retail space as well.
The critically acclaimed horror adventure game will be getting a retail release on December 4 th , 2012, shortly after the fifth chapter drops sometime in November. The retail edition will run for $29.99 on both the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3. For the less mathematically inclined, this comes out to approximately five dollars more than buying all of the chapters online alone.
In addition, GameStop is offering an exclusive collector’s edition of The Walking Dead only available through pre-order. The collector’s edition features the game and a special edition Walking Dead Compendium One with a brand new cover, which includes issues 1-48 of the comic. This volume alone normally retails for $59.99, but it will be included in the collector’s edition of the game, which will retail for $69.99. Thus far, there has been no word on a retail version for the PC or Mac.
Let’s hope that Telltale capitalizes on their success with The Walking Dead and creates even more tales after the story of Lee Everett is over.
