The Wii Gets More Updated GameCube Classics

None

Remember Nintendo’s “New Play Control” line of Wii titles? The first Pikmin and Donkey Kong Jungle Beat come to mind, utilizing the motion sensitivity and IR receiver on the Wii remote to provide a new play experience on some of the odder GameCube titles. The line kept going in Japan and, finally, it appears that a few more of those titles will be making their way over to North America.

Mario Power Tennis is one and, while that’s certainly exciting, the real crown jewel, here, is the release of Pikmin 2, which was an utterly unique sequel to an utterly unique game. In addition to taking away the time limit from the first game, Pikmin 2 introduced co-op, and made exploration a greater part of the gameplay, rewarding it with dungeons that added an RPG feel to what was, originally, mostly a puzzle/RTS game. Both games will retail for $20 when they release on Sunday, June 10.
