There’s a New Warhammer: 40,000 RTS in the Works: “Battlefleet Gothic: Armada”

Sherlock Holmes publisher Home Focus Interactive and Etherium developer Tindalos Interactive have announced a new installment to the Warhammer: 40,000 franchise that’ll be a real-time strategy title for the PC. Instead of fighting with grounds a la Dawn of War , players will instead take to fight into outer reaches of space with the Imperial Navy’s Battlefleet Gothic.

Developed with Unreal Engine 4, Battlefleet Gothic: Arnada gives players command of fleets composed of massive, powerful warships to strike against their enemies. Playing as either the Imperium, the Legions of Chaos, the Elder or the Orks, control over the Gothic sector of Warhammer: 40,000’s fictional universe will be a struggle at the best of times.

The game is promised to offer “deep management of every ship composing the player’s fleet,” with can be done both in and out of conflict. Players will be allowed to customize all aspects of the ships in their fleet, regardless if said ship is a tiny frigate or a titanic battleship. Each customization made by players will affect the performances of weapons, defenses and support systems, as well as the special abilities inherent to specific ships.

As battles go on, the surviving crew of the ships within the player’s fleet will gain experience and promotions, which–as a whole–will improve the combat readiness of a ship before it enters another battle. It’s teased that more about this PC strategy game will be shared “very soon.” A release date for the Warhammer: 40,000 title has yet to be detailed. For now, all there is are in-game screenshots that were taken from an earlier build of the game. One of the screenshots can be view above.
