TinyCo Talks New Mobile Family Guy Game

TinyCo Talks New Mobile Family Guy Game

For years people have accused Family Guy of ripping off the iconic Simpsons franchise. After the huge success of EA’s hit Tapped Out , it would appear Family Guy is now following suit with a mobile game of their own. Let the flame war between fans begin once again!

Andrew Green (who used to work at Tapped Out developer EA) has confidence in the success of this game, as he touted in a recent interview that laughs are virtually guaranteed. However, when asked how they planned to overcome the stigma of “licensed games” (which are often times terrible), he answered “…we were like ‘What is the experience that people want to have with this brand?’ And what they want is they want more of the show. They want to interact in the same way that they interact with the show. So if you can’t match the world, if you can’t match the humor, if you can’t match the characters, the feel, then you’re not going to be successful.”

Regardless, the comparisons between the new Family Guy game and The Simpson’s Tapped Out are inevitable. Luckily this is something that Green has anticipated, and is quick to point out just how different these titles will be. “People are going to draw comparisons between Simpsons: Tapped Out and Family Guy ,” he says “but I think the key differentiator that you’ll see…I think Simpsons Tapped Out is much more just straight collection; build and collect. Whereas Family Guy: The Quest For Stuff is all narrative-driven, which is really important for Family Guy because the humor is all about the character interactions, the cutaways, the randomness, the references, the insanity.”

Family Guy: The Quest For Stuff is out now for Android and iOS.
