TMNT Gets Re-Shelved

TMNT Gets Re-Shelved

None

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time Re-Shelled, the classic arcade beat’em up remake, will no longer be available in the United States as of June 30.

Re-Shelled was released during Microsoft’s August 2009 “Summer of Arcade” on the Xbox Live Arcade, and hit the PlayStation Network a month later. In contrast to most arcade re-releases, Re-Shelled was a full-on remake, introducing eight-way running and attacking, as well as redoing the graphics in full polygonal glory. The game’s removal from sale in the US is due to Ubisoft’s license on the Ninja Turtles expiring.

A note to those looking to pick up the title before it is gone forever: This is based on the quarter-munching arcade original and not the more player-friendly Super Nintendo port. Gameplay is somewhat looser, there are a few different bosses and stages, and, most telling, the title loves to swarm you. But it does support up to four players at once in frantic melee action.

Turtles in Time: Re-Shelled will be available from the PlayStation Store and Xbox Live Arcade until June 30 for $10 (800 MS Points).
