When November rolls around, it’s not unusual for a few apologetic press releases to come down the shoot. Developers love to announce that their games are going to hit the shelves by the holiday season, but things don’t always work out that way. The guys over at Runic Games are finding themselves in that boat today as they’ve just released a statement about the upcoming Torchlight II: “We’ve come to the realization, however, that getting a game of this scope up to the quality and polish level we want to achieve is going to take a little longer,” the statement read, “especially since we want to run a small beta before release to ensure that our launch is smooth.”
“Right at this moment though, we do have those resources for the sequel,” said Runic President Travis Baldree, “and we feel strongly that we should apply them to make this the best game we can make and hopefully one that you’ll enjoy and continue to want to play in the future.” 2009’s Torchlight quickly became a favorite among RPG fans, who have since been eagerly awaiting the sequel. But if Runic needs a bit more time to get all of the bugs out, I hope they take all the time they need. Besides, it’s not like we’re running short on games to play right now. By Josh Engen |
