Torchlight Sells A Million

Torchlight Sells A Million

None

Diablo III is still without an official release date, so gamers desperately seeking a dungeon crawler fix have had to explore their non-Diablo options. One very solid alternative is Runic Games’ indie hit Torchlight. This week, Torchlight is celebrating a major milestone: one million units sold. That’s huge for a download-only title.

This comes on the heels of a big 4th of July blowout on Steam, as well as being a part of Xbox Live Arcade’s “Deal of the Week” promotion.

“We’re very excited to share Torchlight’s success with our fans and supporters,” said Travis Baldree, President/Project Director and Co-founder of Runic Games. “It’s been a great ride so far and we can’t wait to give everyone more of what they want in Torchlight II. It isn’t every day you sell a million games. We’re grateful to be here.”

Runic Games is currently hard at work on a sequel, Torchlight II, which will add a new playable class and expand the explorable landscape. If it’s anything like the original, players can plan on getting completely immersed in a dangerously addictive dungeon crawling experience.

Stay tuned to Cheat Code Central for more information on this highly anticipated indie sequel.
