Though Torchlight fans around the world have shared concern about their favorite RPG being turned into an MMO, Runic CEO Max Schaefer responded to early skepticism, saying that they are not trying to be the new World of Warcraft with Torchlight and are looking to create a completely different experience with the game.  To drive his point home, Schaefer said that there will never be a subscription fee for Torchlight, even if it becomes wildly successful. Couple that with his earlier statements that there will never be a microtransaction fee in the game, and one has to wonder, where exactly will Torchlight get its money from? Server maintenance is expensive. |
