Uncharted 4 Won’t be Pushed for 60fps if it Impacts Player Experience

According to the latest issue of of EDGE, issue #276, it’s reported that Uncharted 4’s developer Naughty Dog will not go ahead with keeping the game running at 60 frames per second if it negatively affects the game’s player experience. Even though there is much demand to have games run above the typical 30 frames per second right now, the developer will prioritise Uncharted 4’s experience over frame rate.

Having said that, Naughty Dog’s game director for Uncharted 4 , Bruce Straley, revealed that the game currently runs above 30 frames per second, although the game’s recently published demo gameplay footage was locked to 30 frames per second, Straley confirmed.

He told EDGE that Naughty Dog would “do whatever it takes” to make the game it wants to make. He then added that if pushing Uncharted 4 to run at 60 frames per second would impact the player’s experience, the developer would “ go for the experience over the 60 frames.”

According to Video Gamer, EDGE claims that the game currently runs at 37 frames per second, a number that was apparently visible via a debug station. Issue #276 of EDGE is now available in print and on iPad , Google Play and Zinio . Uncharted 4 is currently slated to release exclusively on Sony’s PlayStation 4 later on this year.
