Vita Owners Stuck With One PSN Account

Vita Owners Stuck With One PSN Account

None

When Sony first announced that the Wi-Fi-only edition of their PlayStation Vita would be made available for only $250, gamers started getting pretty excited about the system. But then, last month, they revealed that players who may want to transfer their PSP UMD games over to their newly purchased Vitas would have to cough up an extra fee . And then, last week, GameStop leaked Sony’s plans to overcharge for the Vita’s proprietary memory cards (which are required in order to use the system, by the way. There is no onboard storage).

Well, now it sounds like Sony is planning to forcibly tie a single PSN account to the system. This means that a factory reset would be required if owners want to log on to a new account.

The news comes out of Japan, where attendees at a recent Vita event were given a catalog containing some specifics about the system. Apparently, the catalog contained an FAQ, which detailed the factory-reset requirements.

Obviously, a factory reset isn’t required on the PlayStation 3. Neither was it a part of the PSP specs. So, I’m not sure why Sony thinks that it’s a good idea now.
