Walmart Dropping 3DS Price Early

Walmart Dropping 3DS Price Early

None

Walmart is about to make your wallet happy, and your friends jealous.

The retailer recently announced that it would be selling Nintendo’s 3Ds for 170 bucks starting on August 9th. This will give users the opportunity to sign up for Nintendo’s Ambassador program just in the nick of time.

For those of you who have had your fingers in your ears for the last couple of weeks, Nintendo’s Ambassador program allows users to download 20 games from their virtual storefront—provided that they have purchased the 3DS before August 12th. Obviously, the Ambassador program was meant to be a reward for those players who purchased their console before the August 12th price reduction, but Walmart is giving you the best of both worlds.

For me, the most important element of this deal is the anger it will induce in my 3DS-owning friends. They all purchased their consoles at full price and have been trying to convince me that they’d rather have 20 free games than pay the reduced price. I think this new development should make them sufficiently jealous.

I just checked the balance in my checking account and plan to head to Walmart early on the 9th. I’ll meet you there.
